Current Events

So, i got a call from the Relief society president last night. Apparently, they think im inactive now or something. They KNOW i just had a baby... anyways, now they are stopping by to visit me? im not quite sure why. I told her i would be back in Relief society as soon as jonas starts to maybe sleep at night. lol. but i think this visit is just her excuse to come to the house and see the baby and comiserate with me and tell me stories of when she was a young mother. Oh what fun! :p

Yesterday was my first day back at work... I'm only going back part time so i only have to work 2 days a week in the office for 5 hours. It went surprisingly well. Natalie (nicks sister) babysat Jonas and she said he was really good for her. yay! :) Work was great, everyone missed me. (awwwww.... ) It kinda felt like i never left, and gosh it felt SO good to get out of the house! and call me a bad mother or whatever, but omgosh, it was sooo nice to get a break from jonas for a few hours! i havent had that since he was born because he likes to breastfeed every 2 hours!!

Speaking of Jonas, I think he's starting to smile. i have the hardest time distinguishing if he is "really" smiling or if its just a gas smile. Probably because he has more gas than iraq. ( lol at my political joke) he is the gassiest baby ever. So the other day i was talking to him and smiling and he smiles at me and i was like "WOO HOO!!" and then like two seconds later he lets out a huge fart! whats a mom supposed to think? oh well, it was a cute smile regardless.

oh! ive started water aerobics again!! yay! i just hope it give me a waist again! i want my old waist back! right now its almost the same size as my hips.. eek!

We dont know what to do.. we dont know how to get the bird(s) out without them flying around the house going nuts. We are probably gonna have to let them or it die inside our house!! eeeek! Its so freaky hearing the bird walking around the ceiling around us and hes flapping his wings and hitting against the furnace door right now! ahh! its freaking me OUT!!

Why to not listen to your Dad's Baby Tips...

So i called my house today to talk to my mom about Jonas' diaper rash. It doesnt seem to be clearing up at all. My mom wasnt there, so i ended up talking to my dad instead. My Dad's advice was to let the rash "air dry" for a few minutes. I was worried about Jonas peeing/poohing on me in those few minutes, but my dad reassured me with a laugh... in my mind the laugh meant that it probably wouldnt happen and that i was a worrywart. Looking back, maybe he was laughing cuz he knew what most likely would happen, i dont know. So anyways, i get off the phone and change Jonas' diaper, i decided i would take off the diaper for just a minute and kind of fan the area in hopes that it would give it the most amount of air in the least amount of time. I even stuck some toilet paper underneath him in case he poo'ed.

WELLLLLLL.... he didnt poo. Instead, im being pelted with pee, i didnt even realize what was going on at first and then when i did, my immediate reaction was to step out of the line of fire (cuz, EW, PEE!) but now, i wish i hadnt, cuz when i moved, his stream of pee reached the bed!!! and it got all over the changing table! EWWWWW! so i undress him and run him over to the bathroom and stick him in his tub. He is screaming at this point of course. I get undressed as well so that i can bathe him while i shower. It was definitely the least relaxing shower i have ever taken... he screamed when i didnt give him every ounce of attention and all the warm water. lol. So, we are both showered and bathed, part of the reason why he is screaming is because he is hungry (poor kid, i only fed him 2 hrs ago! :p )
Anyways, so i hurry and grab a towel for him and wrap him all up and i go to the bedroom to feed him.. well right before i get him latched on, i realize that he has just poo'ed in the towel! GRRREAT! After i get a diaper on him and feed him, he decides that peeing and pooing on me isnt enough and he spits up all over me! What a fun afternoon. Now the baby is content and I am doing about a billion loads of laundry. If anyone is keeping track, the score tally is Jonas: 3, Brenda: 0.

Thanks Dad for the awesome tip!!!

p.s. this is NOT an april fools joke. or maybe it was jonas' attempt on me..... either way, not funny dad and jonas! i know you were in on it together!

Breastfeeding, motherhood, ect.

Wow. Being a mother. It is hard.

Breastfeeding? SO HARD!! Everyone says it gets easier and I keep praying for that day to come. Im still using a nipple shield cuz my nips got so torn up and then Ive got a gargantulan boob that produces WAY more milk than the other and its huge and engorged and its got a plugged duct and a breast infection right now. oh yay another great joy of breastfeeding! The baby eats SOOO much. sometimes every hour, if not, then he always eats every two hours. I feel like such a milk machine!

Sleep? Fuh'get about it! It doesnt exist. Jonas wakes up more in the night than any other time, i swear!

Personal time? Doesnt happen! Cuz the second you need to get something done, the baby will most assuredly wake up and start crying! Good luck if you need to take a crap! lol.

Love life? well, making out only goes so far when your boobs hurt more than anything and your lady bits have just been torn up. Hey! on a positive note, at least my lips are still functioning.

Post pregnancy body? Not bad actually. I thought it would be sooo much worse! Im still waiting (not so) patiently to fit into the majority of my pants. But im making progress everyday, yippee!! AND in comparison to what my body looked like 3 weeks ago, i feel like a freakin supermodel.

Family Relations? pretty awesome. Nick is SUCH a good daddy! It melts my heart to see him with our son taking care of him and playing with him. Me and my parents, in particular, my mom are closer now, which is something i can honestly say i thought would never happen. Me and my mom have NEVER been close! But she has been such a huge help to me the past couple weeks! Nicks family has been great too, i dont think we've ever been brought so much food in our lives!! Oreo even like Jonas and we were sooo worried about her not being able to adjust to having a baby in the house, but she has been doing so well! Everyone loves Jonas to death, he is gonna be such a spoiled lil boy!

Being a mother? It is hard, but it is also so rewarding! I love to see my lil boy growing and doing more things! When he just looks up and me with his big eyes and stares, it is such an amazing feeling. When he smiles in his sleep (even if its just gas smiles or a reflex), it is the cutest thing in the world! I have taken so many pictures of this kid, its absolutely ridiculous! He makes some of the cutest noises and cutest faces.

My baby boy is here!

Jonas Dawson was born on March 12th at 11:30 pm. He weighed 9 lbs 6 oz and was 21.5 inches long AND 6 days overdue! We were so happy to finally meet him!!

Here is my labor story:

I was kinda depressed on wednesday cuz i hadnt gone into labor yet and i was almost 41 weeks! i had my doctor appt that day and i was so sad that i had made it to that appt. Pretty much everyone thought i wouldnt make it cuz the previous week i had been 3.5cm dilated and 70% effaced.
So, anyways, my doula accompanied me to my appt to help me talk to the doctor about induction. The appt went really well, i was 4.5cm dilated and 80% effaced the baby was still not dropped though, which was probably the reason why i wasnt in labor yet. He was still at a -3 station. So the doctor stripped my membranes and let me tell you, he went at it! He was really trying to send me into labor! Okay, so i left the doctors office with my membranes stripped and with an induction date of Sunday the 16th (11 days overdue) .

My doula said that she would come back to my house in like an hour and do a pressure point massage to help me to go into labor. So, she came and i wasnt really feeling anything from the stripping of the membranes. After the massage, i still didnt feel anything, she told me some things i could get from the store (herbal stuff) to help speed things along as well. So, off i went to the store to get some things. Anyways, i started feeling cramps at the store, but figured they were no big deal. So, i continued on my way to another store to look for a nursing gown. Well, i didnt end up getting it cuz I started to feel way more crampy at that store, something just didnt feel right. so i came home to my husband. We both didnt know if it was the real thing or not.... my husband was about ready to leave for a side job and then school. I didnt know if i should let him leave or not! Anyways, we decided that he would stay and its a good thing he did! not even 2 hours later my contractions were coming 2 minutes apart lasting for 30 seconds each. I called my doula and she came over, we quickly reached the decision that we should head to the hospital. Nick was surprised, he was cleaning out the car and putting our stuff in, he thought he had alot of time on his hands! We went to the hospital, I was wearing my bathrobe since i had tried to relieve the contractions by getting in the shower and taking a bath at home, i was totally styling, but i could have cared less at that point. When we got there, we had to fill out paperwork and wait for 30 minutes in the waiting room!! I was going through serious labor... all the people in the waiting room were looking at me funny/worried. AND the wait would have been longer if we had not taken things into our own hands! They told us what room number we would be in, but they said we had to wait for the head nurse to check us in. She was busy with 4 other deliveries! There was so way i could wait to get in that room, so we just went back there and i got into the jacuzzi tub. The warm water and jets helped so much! I had back labor pretty much the whole time and my doula helped out during every contraction by squeezing my hips together. By the time i got into my room at the hospital it was about 7:15PM, the baby was born only 4 hours later! I was so blessed to have a short labor. It was very intense at times, but the doula and my husbands help was indispensible to get me through those contractions. Around 10:30pm, i was getting urges to push, but my water hadnt broken yet.. i think i was 8 or 9 cm dilated at this point. The nurse called the doctor and told him to hurry. Right after that I had a contraction and i felt the urge to push down, so I did and BAM! my water burst like balloon! It was pretty funny cuz the doula had just told me to visualize my water breaking.
After my water broke, things sped up really quickly, each contraction after that i was pushing, but the nurse was telling me not to push, but I HAD TO! The doctor hadnt arrived yet, so they kept telling me not to push, which was horrible, i kinda still pushed anyways, luckily the doctor arrived before the baby did. He got there for like the last 10 or so minutes of pushing. I pushed for 30 minutes total. It was soo hard! the hardest part of the labor and we found out why when our baby boy came out. He was a whopping 9lbs. 6 oz. and 21.5 inches long. What a big boy! They put him onto my tummy and he was perfect. He had a full head of copper red hair, i was so surprised! They hurried and got him all cleaned up while i pushed out the placenta. Nick came back with the baby all cleaned up and showed him to me. We were both so in love and in awe that i had just pushed that baby out of me!! It seemed so surreal, like a dream. I had a second degree tear, so while i was being stitched up Nick and the baby were right by me and I asked Nick "Well, what should we name him?" We had a few names that we liked, but we hadnt decided on anything 100%, we wanted to see the baby first. So, Nick said, "I think he looks like a Jonas" and i said "you’re right, he does. Jonas Dawson Forgacs."
